| Wordpress.com - Blogroll disappears | | |
 Sponsor | penman2 | Mar 24, 6:06am | I know I could post this question on the Wordpress.com forums, but I thought I'd give this forum a crack.
As a means of breaking myself in gently to Wordpress, I've established a blog on Wordpress.com and will move across to an independently hosted domain in due course.
At first, the Blogroll appeared, but when I chose to customise my sidebar, it disappeared entirely and everything I try will not bring it back. I really don't want to go back to the default setting, but with all the options to add into a customised sidebar, there isn't one for a Blogroll.
Any idea what to do ? Should I add another text box and start one from scratch (a pain, because presumably the " add this blog to your Blogroll facility " wouldn't work) ? |

Then I decided I wanted to make it clear that the blog was subject to a Creative Commons license and - from reading the Wordpress.com forums - it was clear the only way of doing this was to use a text widget and switching from the default sidebar to a customised one. As soon as I did this, the Blogroll disappeared and everything I do to get it to appear, fails.
If it is the theme causing this (which hadn't occurred to me), perhaps I should switch to another theme and see if this makes a difference. It'll be a couple of days before I can do that, but I'll give it a try.
Thanks. |

In my case, until I get more comfortable with the theme I've chosen I set up a few public "411" pages in my blogroll module as an ersatz CYA. Yeah, it's not exactly ideal, but it works for now. |

Good thing we don't have different names for the same thing here on SU or our Homepage/Pages/Reviews/Favorites would be difficult to find/understand for newbies, who would never understand the benefits of joining Forums/Groups ! |
